The quickest way to use Telegram without installing an app

Telegram Web is the browser version of Telegram. It lets you access chats, channels, groups, files, bots, and many other everyday features on a desktop or laptop without installing Telegram Desktop.

Always start from web.telegram.org. Search ads, look-alike domains, and unofficial login pages may try to collect your phone number, login code, or cloud password. Telegram also maintains WebK and WebA clients, but the main official address is the safest entry point because it directs you to a supported version.

What is Telegram Web?

Telegram Web synchronizes with the same cloud account you use on your phone. After authorization, your regular chats and cloud files appear in the browser. You do not create a separate web account.

The web client is convenient for typing long messages, downloading documents, managing work chats, and opening Telegram on a computer where you do not want to install software. Some device-specific or recently released features may differ from the mobile and desktop apps.

  • Works in a modern browser without a separate installation.
  • Synchronizes cloud chats, channels, groups, bots, and files.
  • Supports QR code and phone-number authorization.
  • Can run supported Telegram Mini Apps inside the web client.

How to log in to Telegram Web with a QR code

QR authorization is usually the fastest method. You need a phone where you are already signed in to the Telegram mobile app.

  1. 1

On your computer, open web.telegram.org. A QR code should appear on the login screen.

  2. 2

On your phone, open Telegram and go to Settings. On Android, Settings is a separate item next to Profile.

  3. 3

Open Devices and select Link Desktop Device. The exact wording may vary slightly by operating system and Telegram version.

  4. 4

Point the phone camera at the QR code shown in the computer browser. Keep the full code inside the scanner frame.

  5. 5

Wait for the browser to open your chat list. If two-step verification is enabled, Telegram may also ask for your cloud password.

A login QR code expires quickly. If it is no longer accepted, refresh the Telegram Web page and scan the new code.

How to log in with a phone number

Use this method when you cannot scan the QR code but still have access to another authorized Telegram session.

  1. 1

Open web.telegram.org and choose Log in by phone number.

  2. 2

Select your country and check the international dialing code.

  3. 3

Enter the phone number connected to your Telegram account.

  4. 4

Telegram normally sends the confirmation code to an existing Telegram session. In some cases another delivery option may become available.

  5. 5

Enter the code only on the official Telegram website.

  6. 6

If prompted, enter the cloud password configured for two-step verification.

What can you do in Telegram Web?

For everyday communication, the browser client covers most common tasks. Because Telegram develops its clients separately, a feature can arrive on mobile, desktop, WebK, and WebA at different times.

If a specific feature is missing or a Mini App needs device hardware that the browser cannot provide, use the current Telegram mobile or desktop app instead.

  • Read and send messages in private chats, groups, and channels.
  • Upload and download documents, photos, videos, and voice messages.
  • Search chats, use folders, and manage notifications.
  • Open bots and supported Telegram Mini Apps.
  • Use multiple sessions and terminate them from account settings.

Telegram Web login problems and solutions

Most authorization problems can be solved without reinstalling anything. Work through the relevant check below.

The QR code does not scan

Increase the browser zoom if the code is too small, clean the phone camera, avoid screen glare, and make sure Telegram has camera permission. Refresh the page if the code has expired.

The confirmation code does not arrive

Check every device where Telegram is already signed in—the code commonly arrives in the verified Telegram service chat rather than by SMS. Confirm that the number and country code are correct.

The page does not load

Verify the address, reload the page, try a current version of another browser, and check whether an extension or network filter is blocking Telegram. Avoid unknown mirrors.

Telegram asks for an additional password

This is the cloud password for two-step verification, not the one-time login code. Use the recovery process offered by Telegram if you have forgotten it.

The browser logs out unexpectedly

Private browsing, automatic cookie deletion, security software, or manually terminated sessions can remove authorization. Sign in again and review active sessions.

How to use Telegram Web safely

A browser session can provide access to personal conversations and files. Take extra precautions on a computer that is shared, public, or managed by another organization.

  • Confirm that the address belongs to the telegram.org domain before entering any credentials.
  • Do not install unofficial browser extensions that promise a special Telegram Web version.
  • Never share login codes, QR codes, or a two-step verification password.
  • Do not save passwords in a browser you do not control.
  • Log out when finished and remove the session from Settings → Devices if necessary.
  • Regularly review active sessions and terminate devices you do not recognize.

Can you use bots and Mini Apps in Telegram Web?

Yes. Bots are available as regular Telegram chats, and supported Mini Apps can open in an embedded web view. A Mini App is an interactive web application connected to a Telegram bot—not a separate program downloaded from an app store.

Availability depends on the Mini App, browser, and Telegram web client. Features that rely on phone hardware or a newly introduced Telegram API may work differently. If an Open or Launch app button is not available, update the browser, try the other official Telegram client, or open the Mini App on your phone.

Once Telegram Web is authorized, open the bot through a trusted direct link or Telegram search, press Start if required, and select the app launch button.

Frequently asked questions about Telegram Web

What is the official Telegram Web address?

Use https://web.telegram.org/. Check that the domain ends in telegram.org before scanning a QR code or entering a phone number.

Can I use Telegram Web without my phone?

You can continue using an already authorized browser session without keeping the phone connected. For a new login, however, you normally need access to an existing Telegram session or another confirmation method offered by Telegram.

Can I log in with an email address?

A Telegram account is primarily tied to a phone number. Email may be used for recovery or security features, but it does not generally replace the phone number on the standard Telegram Web login form.

Is Telegram Web the same as Telegram Desktop?

No. Telegram Web runs in a browser, while Telegram Desktop is installed on the computer. They use the same Telegram account but can differ in supported features and operating-system integration.

Does Telegram Web support Mini Apps?

Supported Mini Apps can run in Telegram Web, but compatibility depends on the Mini App, browser, and web client version. Device-specific features may still require the mobile app.

How do I log out of Telegram Web?

Open Telegram Web settings and choose Log out. On a shared computer, also open Settings → Devices on your phone and make sure the browser session is no longer active.

Telegram Web in brief

Use the official web.telegram.org address, choose QR code or phone-number login, and protect every confirmation code as carefully as a password. On a shared computer, always terminate the session when you are done.

After authorization, Telegram Web can be more than a chat client: supported bots and Mini Apps let you complete practical tasks directly in Telegram, including managing a personal budget with Finance Portfolio.
